David Wu, Grade 4 Teacher

I have been committed to Christian Education for over 30 years. My first 5 years I spent teaching a 5/6 class at White Rock Christian Academy. For the next 26 years I taught at Vancouver Christian School, mostly at the intermediate level. Last year, I served as the principal of West Coast Christian School. Over my teaching career, I have been privileged to experience the joy of mentoring students to grow in their knowledge of Christ and develop their gifts and abilities to serve God and one another in every part of their lives.

I was born in Calcutta, India, and immigrated to Canada in 1963. Vancouver has been home for most of my life. I grew up in Vancouver and attended Sexsmith Elementary School and John Oliver High School. After graduating from high school, I completed a Bachelor of Art degree from the University of British Columbia, then completed a Masters of Divinity degree from Regent College. For a brief time I served in ministry locally and overseas in Africa, then returned to complete a Bachelor of Education at UBC.

I am blessed to have a wonderful blended family. My wife Jennifer and I are proud parents of our adult children Lukas and Virginia. In the past few years, Virginia has married and we have become grandparents to 4 year old Mercy and 4 month old Judah. Also, we have a 5 year old lab mix July who will always be the “baby” in our family.

I enjoy walking my dog, meeting up with friends, and cheering on the Canucks. My favorite conversations involve sports, food, or my grandchildren.

I Peter 1:3-4 “…Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.” As a Christian educator, father, and grandfather, I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of journey of faith for young people.
