Personal Profile

I grew up in the beautiful town of Hope, BC. After graduating from high school there, I went on to study at Trinity Western University and Simon Fraser University. I met my husband, Jayson, at Camp Qwanoes at the end of my grade 12 year. After getting married 25 years ago, we moved to Ladner, where my husband worked and I served at Ladner Baptist Church. After 20 years at Ladner Baptist Church, we felt God’s call to change. Our family now attends South Delta Baptist Church, where my husband serves on staff as the Worship Pastor. We have four children, ages 7 to 19. We love to spend time with family, friends, and doing activities outdoors. Some of my favourite activities are camping, kayaking, volleyball, playing games, and traveling.

Professional

I completed my undergrad degree at Trinity Western University with minors in Psychology, Geography, and Education. I then went on to complete my Bachelor of Education at Simon Fraser University. I have taught in the Surrey and Delta School Districts. And now, after 20+ years of teaching grades 5 through 7 in the public school setting, I am thrilled to be joining the community at Delta Christian School. I have a passion to see intermediate students thrive in their learning and feel equipped and ready to launch their journey in high school and beyond.

Philosophical

After many years in the public school system, I am so excited to be joining a community where my heart and passion for Christ can be at the forefront of my teaching. I believe that students learn best when they feel safe, loved, and connected to those around them. I desire to provide a classroom environment where students can thrive and grow in academic areas, social-emotionally, and most importantly, spiritually. This can happen when the teaching, environment, and examples are Christ-centered. It is my joy to be a part of each student’s journey and God-honouring transformation throughout the school year.
